So close to the stars: On celestial paths through our cultural history

In 2002, the Nebra Sky Disc, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was handed over to the State Museum. With the exhibition of this oldest concrete representation of the heavens, the cultural site became part of the "Sky Trails" tourist route and secured itself a place among the most important archaeological museums in Central Europe. The museum began to breathe history as early as 1911, when it was modelled on the Porta Nigra in Trier. Today, a lively tour with numerous archaeological finds leads around the atrium of the building. History from the Palaeolithic Age to the early modern period is brought to life and exciting special exhibitions constantly provide new insights.
