The Insipring Six in Saxony-Anhalt - Where world history can be experienced up close

Saxony-Anhalt is right in the middle - geographically and historically. Nowhere else in Germany are there so many World Heritage Sites in such a small area. UNESCO has designated five cultural sites and one world documentary heritage site as World Heritage of Humanity. Not because they are old. But because they still have something to say today.

The INSPRING SIX tell the story of 3,600 years of human history: from the oldest depiction of the sky to the changes brought about by the Reformation and the modernity of the Bauhaus. If you want to explore all six sites, follow the STAUNENSWERTE tour - with practical suggestions for a journey through the cultural heart of Saxony-Anhalt.

Potential future World Heritage Sites can also be discovered - such as the baroque Francke Foundations with their historic school town, the Merseburg Magic Spells - unique testimonies to pre-Christian beliefs and the oldest surviving pagan texts in Old High German or the Pretzien Weir - a technical monument to flood protection that still functions today.
