Saxony-Anhalt is a state that is constantly changing - with the light, with the climate, with the seasons. If you walk through the Elbe floodplains in spring, you will experience a different picture than in summer on the mountain trails of the Harz, in fall in the vineyards of Saale-Unstrut or in winter in the historic markets of the old towns. Every time of the year opens up new possibilities: for outdoor exercise, for encounters with culture, for tranquillity in nature or for a journey into history. Saxony-Anhalt is worth a visit at any time of year!
Spring

Summer
In summer, the forests of the Harz Mountains are cool and shady, while the Geiseltalsee or the rivers provide refreshment. The Elbe cycle path invites you to take long rides, while wineries in Saale-Unstrut open their courtyards for talks and tastings. The Bauhaus in Dessau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, can also be rediscovered in the summer light. Monasteries and castles are transformed into stages for concerts. Families spend days outdoors, cyclists and hikers make the most of the long evenings.
Fall
The grape harvest in Saale-Unstrut begins with the colors of autumn. In the Harz forests, you can hear the roaring of the deer, hikes lead through clear air over the Devil's Wall or to castles in the middle of the countryside. In Naumburg, the cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, invites visitors to concerts and guided tours. Cities such as Halle and Magdeburg organize festivals that combine culture and harvest time. Apples are harvested from orchards and readings are held in monasteries and museums. Autumn is a time when tranquillity, tradition and experiencing nature come together.

Winter
When snow covers the peaks of the Harz Mountains and towns such as Quedlinburg or Wernigerode are bathed in winter light, Saxony-Anhalt shows its quiet side. Christmas markets in historic settings, winter hikes or a visit to a museum make the dark time of year extra special. The Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also invites you to take quiet walks. Castles and monasteries open their gates for Advent markets, while concerts and theaters provide warmth in the cities. There are ice rinks and toboggan runs to get you moving, while other places invite you to pause for a moment - in churches, exhibitions or on a walk through snow-covered parks.
