Day 1: Arrival and City Tour

Arrival and check-in at the InterCity Hotel

1:00 p.m.

  • Start your visit to Magdeburg with a city tour which takes you past the most interesting places in the city

2:00 p.m.

  • For a small lunch snack, the Thies Concept Store where you can also find exclusive decorative items and clothing on the upper floor.

3:00 p.m.

  • Afterwards there is time for a visit to the Green Citadel of Magdeburg and the winter garden. The two inner courtyards with their small shops invite you to stroll around.

5:00 p.m.

  • As soon as it gets dark, a guided tour through the World of Lights. The impressive light sculptures run through Magdeburg's city center.

6:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m.

  • End of the day: walk along the Elbe promenade with a view of the cathedral, the Hubbrücke and the Sternbrücke

Day 2: The Cathedral at the Center

11:00 a.m.

  • The day starts with a visit to the cathedral Cathedral Museum Ottonianum which tells the moving story of Emperor Otto the Great. Then visit the cathedral right across the street.

1:00 p.m.

  • After this cultural experience, take a break with lunch at the Restaurant Domkönig restaurant.

3:00 p.m.

  • The afternoon can be spent shopping and strolling along Breiter Weg. A subsequent visit to one of the city's Christmas markets rounds off the day perfectly.

8:00 p.m.

  • The day ends with a visit to a play at the opera house.

Christmas Singing of the Magdeburg Cathedral Choir

Traditional Christmas carols from Germany, England and France, performed by the children, young people and adults of the cathedral choir, tell in an atmospheric way about the miracles of Christ becoming man. Of angels, shepherds and stars and of the tenderness of Mary. And at the end, after the audience has sung along to O thou merry, O thou blessed Christmas season, it can be Christmas!

Day 3: Museum and History of the City

11:00 a.m.

  • Start the day with a visit to the Museum of Cultural History which brings you closer to Magdeburg's history with impressive artifacts from past eras.

12:30 p.m.

  • Afterwards, we recommend a short walk through the Gründerzeit quarter (Hegelstraße, Liebigstraße, Breiter Weg), which was spared the destruction of the Second World War and still gives you an idea of what Magdeburg used to look like.

1:30 p.m.

  • Special exhibition at the Museum of Cultural History
