Feel the Magic of Winter in Saale-Unstrut

The proposed tour is an exemplary weekend from December 19 to 21, 2025 in the Saale-Unstrut region.

Day 1: Querfurt

During the day:

Individual arrival (see Accommodation Tips) and individual city tour city tour through Querfurt
Recommendation: Stopover at the farm shop of the Müller fruit farm (near Querfurt Castle) - fresh and regional products
Visit to the Querfurt Castle Museum and the neighboring farm museum - Insights into rural life

In the evening:

Our tip: Christmas magic at Querfurt Castle - the castle and town of Querfurt once again ablaze with lights on the 4th Advent

Day 2: Nebra, Freyburg and Naumburg Vineyards

10:00 a.m.

Visit to the Nebra Ark with a planetarium show worth seeing and the site where the famous Nebra Sky Disc was found.

Alternatively

Visit to Neuenburg Castle in Freyburg, a magnificent castle complex from the Middle Ages and one of the largest castles in Germany.

12:00 p.m.

Visit to the Rotkäppchen Experience which offers an interesting insight into the Rotkäppchen brand with its interactive exhibition.
Afterwards (possible until 21:00) the atmospheric Advent in the Vineyards with the scent of mulled wine and a Christmassy atmosphere.

Experience two nights including breakfast and discover Naumburg (Saale) in an enjoyable way. Day 3: Merseburg

In the morning:

Breakfast and check-out (see Accommodation Tips in Saale-Unstrut)
The morning is ideal for an individual city tour in Merseburg on your own. The small town is easy to explore on foot.

At noon:

From noon visit to the Merseburg Cathedral including the cathedral treasure, a real highlight for all culture fans. Experience the legendary Merseburg Incantations which are on the list of potential UNESCO World Heritage.
